Program Highlights: Diemer’s O Viridissima Virga; Debussy’s Noël des enfants qui n’ont plus de maisons, Carter’s Maria Walks Amid the Thorn, and Poulenc’s Litanies à la Vierge Noire.

The Peninsula Women’s Chorus’ 49th season brings forth musical currents of joy, uncertainty, and exaltation, echoing the ever-changing facets of winter. Highlights include Diemer’s O Viridissima Virga, reflecting a majestic and breathtaking new beginning, followed by unexpected chaos and hardship in Noël des enfants qui n’ont plus de maisons, Debussy’s tale of Christmas as told by orphans of war.

We also sing about the tribulations of Mother Mary in Carter’s Maria Walks Amid the Thorn, a prelude to her transformation to the divine, and her presence as a guiding star and intimate friend in Poulenc’s Litanies à la Vierge Noire. With Hanget Soi (“Singing Snow”), the frost of winter finally begins to melt as warmth returns to the world. Lend your voice to this Winter Prelude in our sing-along set!
