Experience some of the Bay Area’s finest treble choirs during this afternoon of new music-making!

This event marks the premiere of a piece by Julia Adolphe, setting a PWC-commissioned poem by Safiya Sinclair, which will be the first work from our Trailblazers Project: a multi-year, collaborative choral project with faculty in Stanford University’s Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. We celebrate the contributions of three iconic women—Harriet Tubman, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, and Alice Paul—all of whom blazed the way toward significant American social and political change.

We are excited to announce that Judith Bryant, the great-great-grandniece of trailblazer Harriet Tubman, will be a part of New Music for Treble Voices Festival’s panel discussion on March 10 at noon! Bryant has been an advocate of honoring Tubman’s legacy, as shown in this PBS NewsHour clip. We are excited to hear her thoughts in conversation with faculty from Stanford’s Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program, Artistic Director Martín Benvenuto, composer Julia Adolphe, and poet Safiya Sinclair.
